Cannabis Court Date Against DEA and Jeff Sessions Draws Closer

On Valentine's Day, CCA and Hiller PC will give oral statements against the government's motion to dismiss the lawsuit.

Our team at The Weed Blog cannot say enough about how wonderful we think the Cannabis Cultural Association is, so when this note from them and their colleagues at Hiller, PC hit our inbox today, we wanted to share it with all of you. This is a big week for the lawsuit they have been working on against the federal government regarding medical cannabis, and we wish them all the best in the moments leading up to the hearing where they will give their oral statements to defeat the government's motion to dismiss on Valentine's Day (this Wednesday), which you can learn more about here.

This year, important changes are coming to the cannabis legalization movement: California launched its full adult use program, Massachusetts is set to launch their adult use later this year, and Vermont recently passed a home grow bill through its state legislature (a first!).

We have much to be excited about this year, however, 2018 also brings major concerns, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions rescinding many Obama-era cannabis protections. You can read our official statement on Sessions rescinding of the Cole Memo here. The fight is far from over. This Valentine's day, February 14th, the CCA, ex-pro football player Marvin Washington and 12yr old medical marijuana patient and activist Alexis Bortell among other plaintiffs have a court date with the Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the DEA. We will be giving our oral statements to defeat the government's motion to dismiss, and we need your support! We need to pack the courtroom, and rally outside of it! We need to show the current local, state and Federal administrations that the unconstitutional prohibition of cannabis needs to end. Now more than ever, we need to work together to stand strong as a community, push back these repressive policies and bring the fight to the courtroom!

Date: February 14, 2018

Time: 12:00 PM (Rally) 2:30 PM EST (Court)

Place: U.S. Courthouse - Southern District of New York 500 Pearl Street Courtroom 14D New York, New York 10007

By spreading the word, we show solidarity, show both the government and Sessions we mean business, and that the Cannabis Community is ready to bring it to this administration. If you are interested in helping organize or volunteer, please contact us, and share our upcoming messages on social media. Thank you again for your continued support.

A major shout out to our legal team for their hundreds of hours of work to make this possible thus far!

TWB will be keeping a close eye on this hearing and we look forward to getting the news to you as soon as we have it!

difference today, being recent convirmations and increasing understandings of our human brain endo-cannabinoid system, which uses natural cannabinoids [cbd's] created in our own brain and systems - and natural cannabis cbd's -

this is truely undeniable physiological truth and reality, unknown until recently, confirming factors such as relate to pain, seizures, and other long recognised therapeutic uses for cannabis.. they were right.. today we know why and how..

what remains to be seen is how the corrupted puppets for self-interested entities [eg big pharma, private prisons etc] will avoid the truth and reality, again, this time..

good news being other responsible societies recognition of therapeutic etc realities, such as canada on usa doorstep sharing common borders, treaties, social attitudes and so on, about to launch their govt managed recreational retail cannabis laws within only a few months from now.. while the constitution and citizens rights may be trampled by those paid to proctect them, general sessions cannot today, dismiss other rational governments and their recognition of what cannabis really is, and what it is not.. so the plot thickens.. how will the general and his dea get around these current realities,, of human endo-cannabidiod brain system and cbd's together with

societies such as canada going ahead despite narcotics conventions, or conditioning as to cannabis being a tool of the devil,, rather than truely a gift from god...
