I love the culture in DMV.
For those who are not familiar with DMV, it stands for DC, Maryland, and Virginia. But the locals informed an out of towner like me that the DMV is select parts of Maryland (mainly parts close to DC).
I was quickly corrected when I mentioned Baltimore – – it’s not part of DMV. The same goes for Virginia, only Northern Virginia is part of DMV. Yes, I’m taking y’all to school.
To my knowledge and experience, I explained that correctly. However, if there are any DMV people reading this, please feel free to correct me if I said something that’s incorrect.
I can truly say that DMV has its own culture and the same goes for sneakers. The New Balance 990, Foamposite, and Nike Boot is a staple. I know you’ve probably heard that before, but it’s really real.
All ages get jiggy with those models. It’s actually amazing to see. My favorite place to sit back and observe the culture is PG Plaza which is the OG name. It’s now the Mall at Prince George’s, but it’s forever PG Plaza.
This is hands down my favorite sneaker mall in DMV. No lie, the mall has about 8-9 sneaker stores… and it’s a small mall. I have no complaints though because I love it.
For my Atlanta heads, to put it in perspective, PG Plaza is a little bigger than West End Mall and a little smaller than Greenbriar Mall. Yeah, that sounds about right.
I was in DC (really Alexandria, VA) last week and it’s mandatory I hit up PG Plaza when I’m in town. In true DMV fashion, I laced up my NB 990s and crossed Woodrow Wilson bridge so I could go embrace the culture in PG County.
Enough talking. Peep some of the photos I took below.
I Hit Several DMV Sneaker Stores During My Recent PG Plaza Visit
For $80-ish, I’ll buy a pair of Cool Grey 8s. Not for $150.
It was only right to snap a photo of Foams.
Wait, there’s more…
On the wall in the Flight 23 store.
They get busy with the New Balance 990.
It’s a culture thing.
Sk8 Hi with a strap. Yes or No?
And before I end, it’s a must to hit Larry’s Cookies when I go to PG Plaza. Delicious!
Half pound gets me… and bae (I share sometimes) right.
