Often times it’s tough to pull the trigger on a new silhouette because you may not be able to try it on immediately and that’s why I created this column First Thoughts. I offer advice on fit, comfort, and some recommendations on how to wear the shoes. Most importantly, you get my honest opinion

Sneaker Gawds were looking out for the kid because today’s style review is on the new Nike Air Presto Flyknit Ultra which was sent over by the good people at Finish Line.

Lets get started…

FIT

The Presto Flyknit Ultra fits true to size.

With the exception of a cage, Flyknit is found throughout the entire upper. It’s actually thicker than what you find on the Flyknit Racer because there’s two layers of yarn, but it’s still lightweight.

The collar of the bootie sockliner doesn’t hug your ankles really tight which is a good thing, but it’s also not loose to the point where it would be baggy.

COMFORT

I find the Presto Flyknit Ultra to be the most comfortable Nike sneaker I’ve ever wore, seriously. I own the low top Presto and I feel as if Flyknit was the perfect upgrade to make them even better.

Comfort has become a top priority for me. The shoe has to be cozy first, then look good. Nike captured both so well here.

STYLE

I felt like a kid on Christmas when I opened the box. The biggest reason I love this shoe is because it’s so versatile. Of course they look good with jeans, but I’ve been really digging 3/4 length athletic pants for Spring/Summer this year. Flyknit Prestos look best with some ankle cleavage showing, in my opinion.

The two styles I recommend and wear often are:

Brand Black Shanty Lite Pant ($110)
– super light weight and breathable, extends just above ankle. Classy yet athletic look, so you can wear them while going out at night as well.

Nike Soccer Attack 3/4 Dri-Fit (on sale for $19.99)
– light weight and breathable. This style is discontinued by Nike, but that’s great because they’re on sale for crazy cheap (original price is $52).

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Nike Air Presto Flyknit Ultra is the best new silhouette out right now. You can go for the neckbreaking look with this Bright Crimson colorway or grab tonal colorways for a really simple and clean look. I love the grey pair, so fresh. Oh yeah, NIKEiD even has them available to be customized.

You can’t go wrong with this shoe. It was love at first sight for me and after wearing them around, they’ll become a permanent fixture in my rotation.
