The Paris Climate Accord Is Worthless Virtue Signaling, Not a Real Deal

Yes, it is true that a United Nations slush fund would be created under the Paris Accord. No wonder Syria and Nicaragua felt no need to sign on.

They’ll get to control a pool of money from the UN. But other than that, the accord really amounts to nothing. It is an all volunteer effort that countries signed on to and the left sees those signatures as salvific. Actual progress does not matter.

In fact, Barack Obama could have implemented his Paris related agenda without Paris. He never sought congressional approval of the agreement. He left it open for a future President to withdraw from the agreement.

Even so, the United States is not the polluter nation the left claims it is. We have done a very good job of reducing emissions. Natural gas replacing coal has been a good thing. Fracking is a good thing. Nuclear power is a good thing. But the left opposes all these things in favor of inefficient solutions like solar power and windmills, both of which take up inordinate amounts of land.

What we are seeing is a secular fatalism lashing out because the President removed our national signature from a document that, in their mind, grants us salvation. As a result, in their religious zeal, they think we are damned.

I have a hard time believing a nation that put a man on the moon cannot innovate its way out of any problem, including this one. In fact, we are already. The constant hysterical predictions of the secular left related to climate change have never come to fruition, but the claims get more wild and hysterical every year.

Consider this from Good Morning America in 2008 in which they predicted epic disasters in 2015, $12.99 for a gallon of milk, and outrageous costs for gasoline. Noe

The President has done a good thing by removing us from a meaningless document that future Presidents could potentially use to wreck our economy.
