It really is apparent in the last 24 hours that the left is becoming increasingly willing to be open about something they believe. They think all conservatives are secret deviants, just like them, but conservatives are in the closet about it. There have been now several articles written that damns the whole of evangelicalism for child abuse and molestation. Likewise there are scores of stories out there that anyone who speaks loudly about homosexuality without celebrating it is privately gay, etc.

Historian Gertrude Himmelfarb once wrote, “What was once stigmatized as deviant behavior is now tolerated and even sanctioned; what was once regarded as abnormal has been normalized ... As deviancy is normalized, so what was once normal becomes deviant. The kind of family that has been regarded for centuries as natural and moral -- the ‘bourgeois’ family as it is invidiously called -- is now seen as pathological”

We are seeing that in how the left approaches these things. All normal people must be privately deviant and all public deviances must be celebrated as normal. Now it is time to discredit the Christian church in that way. But, it goes without saying, that there are those within the church who are helping to make it very easy. In fact, I dare say that when the real and serious persecution comes to America, the cultural Christians who never darken the entrance of a church will make it very hard for those who are there every Sunday. The fake Christian will define the real Christian for the persecution.

As my pastor grandfather used to say, If you want to see the true spirit of a church look at the Wednesday night faithful and not the spectators on Sunday morning. In the era of social media it is easy to spread the bad before the good has a chance to get out of bed. American Christians have never experienced real persecution, but it is coming. The wheat will certainly be separated from the chaff.

That's a great point, though my family has rarely been to Wednesday night church since I work at nights.

Not judging of course. I have been in law enforcement for 15 years and have missed my fair share of services. We all have legitimate circumstances.
