It is becoming increasingly difficult to not recognize that our culture which has boasted of its rebellion to God’s moral authority for decades has not reached the point we find described in the first chapter of the Bible’s book of Romans:
Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools… Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another… Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts… Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. (Romans 1: 22-28)
This is the passive wrath of God. Not active where He brings violent, destructive catastrophes on those who have turned against Him, but instead where He merely removes His protective Hand and allows men who deliberately choose sin to experience its consequences unabated.
With sexual assaults being reported by the minute, super strains of sexually transmitted diseases now defying our best treatments, and the political agenda of sexual anarchists blindly obliterating science and reason in its wake, the Apostle Paul’s words have never been more prescient.
A new survey shows that 44 percent of Americans say a person's gender is not determined at birth and that a person can be a man or a woman regardless of the "sex they were assigned at birth."
Pew Research Center conducted a survey in August and September and, based on 4,573 responses, found that Americans are deeply divided when it comes to transgender issues. A majority of Republicans and those who lean Republican (80 percent) say whether someone is a man or a woman is "determined by sex at birth." Only 34 percent of Democrats and those who lean Democrat agree.
Millennials are least likely, among other generations, to agree with the statement that one's gender is determined by sex at birth, with less than half (49 percent) saying so.
These results show the alarming truth that American society is moving rapidly to embrace the New Age thinking of sexuality that is completely unmoored from the traditional Christian, Western orthodox view. While that explains why teachers in Indiana are being permitted to confuse second graders about biological reality, and why voters in Virginia find someone as mentally disturbed as transgender Democrat Danica Roem fit for public office, it certainly indicates the moral degeneracy we can anticipate unfolding around us.
This is a profound moment for the church in America. The culture is leaving us behind as they plunge headlong into the brave new world of humanistic materialism. There will be consequences for our people spiritually, physically, psychologically, sexually, and intellectually. And as they are abandoned to the consequences of this lustful self-indulgence, we must reaffirm our allegiance to the truth of God and recommit ourselves to an ancient creed of living lives of non-conformity.
May our light shine brightly among men who are proving themselves intent on inviting the darkness.
