It looks like not everybody on the left thinks that Hillary Clinton is the most delightful woman ever and that she should run for office in perpetuity.
Vanity Fair has released a video suggesting six New Year’s resolutions for the former First Lady, Senator, Secretary of State, and Democratic nominee for President, and the ideas are pretty spot on.
Some of the suggestions include:
Take more walks in the woods.
Take up a new hobby…literally anything that will keep you from running again.
Put away your James Comey voodoo doll.
It’s a terrific parody with some grains of tough-love truth to it. So it stands to reason that the Cult of No Personality would get its undies in a bunch over it. In fact, the butthurt is strong enough to inspire its own hashtag – that’s right, those blind lovers of Hillary want you to #cancelvanityfair.
Peter Daou interrupted his vacation to erupt over a humorous video. That should tell you what a crisis this is.
Why, Patricia? Somebody told you that you could act, and you took that advice.
These are the same folks for whom name calling and merciless cheap shots aimed at anyone who is not on the far left is a way of life. That sort of behavior is perfectly fine when it’s aimed at, say, Ted Cruz, Tim Scott, or Nikki Haley, but when the target of humor (which in this case is relatively gentle) is the vaunted Madame Hillary – well, let’s just say that Vanity Fair clearly went too far in their eyes.
Perhaps the truth that not everyone thinks of Hillary Clinton as a modern secular saint stings. Maybe one outlet turning their heroine into the subject of humor is too much for them to take. Or it could be that they can’t stand the notion that Hillary just needs to ride off into the sunset and enjoy life as a retired grandmother.
Whatever the reason, it’s a shame that these folks can’t just laugh along with the rest of us. It’s too bad that their default position is outrage and vitriol.
