After yet another failed attempt to repeal Obamacare, the sellout on DACA, the increasingly doubtful prospects of meaningful tax reform, and the perilous situation in world affairs, President Donald Trump went all-in on a Twitter feud with the National Football League.
“President should not be telling the Washington Redskins to change their name-our country has far bigger problems! FOCUS on them, not nonsense.”
So here’s Trump caught contradicting himself (again). Here’s Trump obviously throwing red meat to his base in a transparent attempt to excite them about something totally unrelated to the failing agenda that should be their focus (again).
Like I said, everyone knows what he is doing. But Trumpists let him get away with it, and somehow the Democrat left is still managing to blow it. It’s gotten to the point where I find myself less incredulous and amazed at the stupid pettiness of President Trump’s tweets than I am at the remarkable ability of the left to play right into his hands time and again, making themselves somehow look worse.
Rather than capitalizing on Trump’s obnoxious conduct, the Democrats keep trotting out Hillary Clinton for some reason. First it was to sell her book, then it was to play sore loser and tease that she might – a year later – legally challenge the results of the election she lost. And now? Now Hillary is comparing Trump to Putin, saying that “hopefully” he isn’t ordering the killing of journalists.
“I kneel in honor of the First Amendment. I kneel because the flag is a symbol for freedom. I kneel because I’m going to stand against racism. I kneel because I will stand with those young men and I’ll stand with our soldiers. And I’ll stand with America, because I kneel.”
Sheila is the all-time champion of disjointed thoughts and fragmented sentences. Not to be outdone, her Democrat Representative colleague Al Green has called for the impeachment of Donald Trump not for high crimes and misdemeanors as the Constitution proscribes, but for the president’s anti-NFL tweets.
This is what I’m talking about: is it petty for Trump to tweet about the NFL? Absolutely. But rather than mock him for it, the left manages to mock itself by suggesting Trump’s criticism of football players is worthy of impeachment.
Leftist stars and elites want in on the action too, apparently failing to realize that whatever they touch becomes toxic to the American electorate and ultimately helpful to Trump.
First LeBron James, after calling the President a “bum” on Twitter, goes off on his home state of Ohio for having a bunch of uneducated people who didn’t know any better than to vote Trump. Yes, LeBron just alienated half his fan base. Yes, LeBron himself barely finished high school and skipped college.
While LeBron is out trash-talking Trump, Madonna is making everyone physically ill by regaling the public with stories of how she still has erotic dreams after meeting Barack Obama. And even the stars of the old X-Files reboot think people care if they take a knee before shooting their next uninspiring episode.
And then there is the left’s propaganda wing, the mainstream media. ABC ran a story comparing Colin Kaepernick to Jackie Robinson, because apparently we are all supposed to believe that wearing socks depicting police officers as pigs was totally Jackie’s style. Over at Sports Illustrated, they are doubling down on this unpopular protest movement by running a silly cover graphic showing a host of professional athletes and commissioners locking arms in solidarity.
The left is unhinged and unbalanced. And they remain the best friend a blundering President Trump could ever have.
