What is Roy Moore waiting for?
I am the first to admit I was wrong. I had Moore winning by about the margin he lost. It was a close race and in the end, many Alabama voters were faced with a devil's bargain of a man whose policies they found repugnant versus a man who they found repugnant. Many voters stood behind Moore regardless of the accusations, otherwise it would have been a landslide for Jones.
Moore lost by over 20,000 votes. That's just shy of the number of write-in votes.
Is he in denial? Is there some big revelation of conspiracy coming? I hope not. Roy Moore has one opportunity to show grace and humility. But that window is closing very soon. Quoting Scripture to his supporters then dismissing them without making a definitive concession accomplishes very little. Everyone knows Moore lost, apparently except Moore.
Moore closed his comments to supporters with "we'll take it on tomorrow." So far, his Twitter feed is silent.
God may or may not have something to say to Moore, but if He does, it's between God and Moore. The voters have made their decision. The lot is cast.
It's time for Roy Moore to show humility and grace. Maybe that's what God is waiting for. Perhaps it's what God has been waiting decades for Moore to do.
