13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. – Psalms 139:13-16
For the record, I like CNN. I believe journalists like Jake Tapper are some of the best we have on the air today. However, on Monday, CNN tweeted one of the most idiotic headlines about the recent shooting in Texas that I have seen. Here is the tweet.
Really, CNN? 25 people and one unborn child. I have a question for CNN, if the unborn child is a child, but not counted as a person, what should it be counted as?
This single tweet is a reflection of a bigger problem we have with the sanctity of life in our culture. It is ironic that in a nation that was founded on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, we continue to be apathetic at best and celebratory at worst that unborn children are not people.
Why should I be surprised thought? After all, our society continues to turn its eye on organizations like Planned Parenthood, who has murdered over 7,000,000 babies since 1978. Additionally, Congress continues to fund PP, who brags about selling baby parts of aborted children and glorifies and tweets the following "if you're a Black woman in America, it's statistically safer to have an abortion than to carry a pregnancy to term or give birth."
As a Christ follower, I believe all lives have inherent dignity. Those inside and outside the womb have value. Why, because they were created in the image of God. May we always pray and speak out for those who cannot speak. After all, we all are fearfully and wonderfully made by a loving Father.
