For two years now, we’ve heard the horrific stories of Planned Parenthood officials making deals to buy the body parts of aborted babies and wondered why nothing has been done about it. We can wonder no more, as Fox News is reporting that the Department of Justice has begun investigating Planned Parenthood .
In a letter first obtained by Fox News, Justice Department Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs Stephen Boyd formally requested unredacted documents from the Senate Judiciary Committee, the same panel that led the congressional probe into the women’s health organization.
“The Department of Justice appreciates the offer of assistance in obtaining these materials, and would like to request the Committee provide unredacted copies of records contained in the report, in order to further the Department’s ability to conduct a thorough and comprehensive assessment of that report based on the full range of information available,” Boyd wrote.
The FBI first requested unredacted documents from the Senate Judiciary Committee in November, but Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and ranking Democrat Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) stated that they required a letter confirming that the documents would be used for an investigation. Apparently, the senators have received such a letter.
This time last year, Grassley recommended the issue to the FBI for investigation based on the evidence that the Committee had heard. Obviously, Planned Parenthood denies any wrongdoing, but it will be interesting to see what the Justice Department uncovers. Stay tuned.
