BREAKING: Chris Collins Suspends Campaign

The New York Republican was arrested this week for insider trading.

MSNBC is reporting that Rep. Chris Collins has suspended his reelection campaign, citing a statement from the congressman. The statement is linked on MSNBC's Twitter account. Collins was arrested this week on charges of insider trading.

The statement says that Collins has decided that it is "in the best interests of the constituents of NY-27, the Republican Party and President Trump's agenda for me to suspend my campaign for re-election to Congress."

In the statement, Collins also pledges to "fight the meritless charges brought against me" and have "my good name cleared of any wrongdoing."

If he spends his campaign money on campaigning he can't spend it on his legal defense. He needs to resign immediately for using campaign funds to hire lawyers he wouldn't need if he wasn't so stupid, corrupt and greedy.
