His prison time begins on Nov 6.
Weiner told the court in May when he pled guilty, “I accept full responsibility for my conduct.” With tears, he added, “I have a sickness, but I do not have an excuse.”
After multiple chances at treating his sickness, jail seems the best curative.
The teenage girl first contacted Weiner via Twitter in January 2016, with their conversations becoming increasingly sexual. At one stage, Weiner sent the teen pornography, while he also used Skype and Snapchat to ask the girl touch herself for him, which she did. After their conversations stopped, the girl eventually sold her story to DailyMail.com, which published screenshots of the pair’s conversations.
Just before the election, Buzzfeed interviewed the young teen, who was upset that her case had become politicized in the midst of the 2016 election cycle. I hope she can understand that everything which followed from her case was done for her own protection, including searching Weiner’s hard drive. The fact that the FBI turned up emails related to his wife, Huma Abedin, doesn’t change the fact that Weiner is a scuzzbag.
Scuzzbags who victimize young girls for their own perverse and sick pleasure deserve to be locked up. If you ask me, 21 months is far too short for Weiner, who has shown himself to be a serial abuser.
Good riddance to him, and may he follow this one pearl of advice for his coming prison stay: don’t drop the soap.
