There’s a great article at the national review that every person who has ever used a patented device should read. (Yes, that’s you.) The key piece of information that scared me on my ride to work this morning (I take the bus, officer) is midway through the article.
”For example, President Obama’s Director of the US Patent and Trademark Office has in some cases convened multiple PTAB panels until she got the result she wanted to invalidate a desired patent.” http://www.nationalreview.com/benchmemos/453767/sleeper-scotus-blockbuster-may-be-next-kelo
If you are a businessperson who creates, adds to, or even uses a patented item, you need to be aware of this. If you are a city or county official that wants to bring businesses to your region - business that create and manufacture patented products - you need to take action on this.
If you are a legislator and you are not actively repealing the PTAB and calling it out for the power-grab it is, you need to get off your seat and make this your conservative platform for the next election.
A government that allows an unelected, unaccountable body to devalue the product of the human mind and the very kernel of American ingenuity is tyrannical. “No, no, little citizen. That wasn’t your idea. It belongs to the government.” And they’ll give it to the highest bidder.
PS - Artists, Musicians, Writers, and Film-Makers: They first came for our land (Kelo), then our patents. Copyright is next. Just wait.
