Who Is Sam Clovis? Racist, Climate Denier And Trump's Pick For Chief Scientist Of The USDA

President Donald Trump has tapped a well-known climate denier to the top science job at the Department of Agriculture. Clovis is the unidentified supervisor from the Papadopolous guilty plea.

Aside, from being a climate-denier, Mr. Clovis lacks any formal education in the sciences at the college or graduate level. He is also a former right wing radio host and a birther.

He is a racist.

CNN’s KFile has recently examined Mr. Clovis’s transcripts from his time as a right-wing radio host and his previous writings.

All of them paint the picture of a man hideously uninformed, ignorant and mean-spirited.

According to the Hill, Mr. Clovis referred to the former President as a “dictator” who “enslaved” Americans and seemed “happy” after Americans died in Benghazi.

Mr. Clovis’s criticisms of the former President and his administration have a racist tinge to them. In addition to his other explosive claims, Mr. Clovis says President Obama was interviewed about a “pimp” with roots in hip-hop. It is unclear who Mr. Clovis is referring to.

Mr. Clovis admitted that he had no evidence for any of his assertions according to the Hill article.

He called Clinton 'wobbly and frail'

During the election, Mr. Clovis accused Sec. Hillary Clinton of being so ill that she was “wobbly and frail” and possibly too weak for the Presidency.
According to Politico:

She just seems a little wobbly and a little frail,” Clovis said. “And I think that that’s something, and anybody that’s ever been on the campaign trail, it doesn’t matter whether you’re running for county supervisor or you’re running for president of the United States, it takes a toll, physically and mentally on the individual. And I think that she really probably needs longer rest periods.”

He is not a scientist. He is not even smart. He is an ignoramus.

Ricardo Salvador, director of the Food and Environment Program at the Union of Concerned Scientists, expressed dismay at the appointment of Mr. Clovis to Think Progress:

If the president goes forward with this nomination, it’ll be yet another example of blatant dismissal of the value of scientific expertise among his administration appointees,” Salvador said. “Continuing to choose politics over science will give farmers and consumers little confidence that the administration has their interests at heart.”
