President Donald Trump struck a derisive tone toward Mexico Wednesday, telling attendees of an immigration roundtable that America’s southern neighbor “does nothing for us”.
“Mexico does nothing for us,” [Trump] said. “Mexico talks but they do nothing for us, especially at the border. They certainly don’t help us much on trade.”
Trump’s comments come as the fate of the North American Free Trade Agreement remains undecided.
During the meeting, Trump also said he will soon be pushing for full funding of his promised border wall, indicating that work had already begun in California but he wants Congress to bankroll the entire project.
