Tony Schwartz, co-author of "The Art of the Deal, recently told CNN that he was not surprised by the president's response to LaVar Ball, because he is "half frightened and half awed by black people," and that his only way to deal with that is to attack them.
Asked how he knows this, Schwartz responded:
"I watched him. He was awed, unequivocally awed, during the many times I saw him with...members of team he owned in the USFL, and when he sponsored fights, prize fights. I think he had kind of this ambivalent relationship, where he wished he could have been an athlete like they were, and on the other hand, if he felt fear he always felt aggression - and a need to put them down."
