When President Donald Trump tweeted Monday that "we should have a contest" to determine which news network is the most dishonest, he could not have imagined that Americans would hand the trophy to Fox News - or perhaps he could, as he explicitly exempted the network from his fictitious competition.
Rassmusen Reports (a conservative polling agency) ran with Trump's idea and conducted a survey to see who would take home the imaginary Fake News Trophy.
Here are the results:
Trump suggested earlier this week that the media should award an annual Fake News Award for the worst coverage of his presidency but left Fox News out of the running since it is the only network the president and his supporters believe gives him fair coverage. But 40% of all voters think Fox News should be the winner of the first annual Fake News Trophy. [Emphasis added]
A closer look finds that while 53% of Democrats and a plurality (42%) of voters not affiliated with either major party declare Fox News the winner, just 24% of Republicans agree.
