Pence: It’s In America’s Interest For Mueller To Wrap Up The Russia Probe Now

Vice President Pence said he "would very respectfully encourage the special counsel" to bring the probe to an end.

In an interview with Vice President Mike Pence Thursday morning, NBC’s Andrea Mitchell broke away from the topic of North Korea to gauge Pence's thoughts on special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian election meddling, asking if he thinks the Mueller investigation is a "hoax" – as the president consistently claims – and if Mueller can be trusted.

Pence failed to answer those questions but said he believes it's time for Mueller to "wrap it up" – for the sake of the country.

Meanwhile, Pence also said that while his administration would “continue” to cooperate with the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 race, he would prefer to see the probe come to an end —and soon.

“It’s been about a year since this investigation began. Our administration's provided over a million documents. We've fully cooperated in it. And in the interest of the country, I think it's time to wrap it up,” the vice president said. “ And I would very respectfully encourage the special counsel and his team to bring their work to completion.”
