Jason T. Posey, the former treasurer for far-right bizarro Congressman Steve Stockman has pleaded guilty to money laundering, wire fraud, and mail fraud according to the Houston Chronicle.

Jason T. Posey, a former campaign treasurer for Stockman, pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Judge Lee Rosenthal to one count each of wire fraud, mail fraud and money laundering. The government will presumably dismiss nearly a dozen additional charges and seek a reduced sentence if Posey agrees to cooperate with the government at Stockman's trial.

Who is former Congressman Steve Stockman (R-TX)?

Steve Stockman, of Clear Lake, promotes himself as gun-loving, abortion-hating philanthropist. He served two terms in congress - representing the 9th congressional district from 1995 to 96 and representing the newly-created 36th district from 2013 to 2014. He never clarified how he made his income before his latest stint in congress, though financial disclosures are required. In campaign literature and speeches, he often claimed he traveled abroad to deliver Christian charity and medical supplies to developing nations.

What are the allegations against former Congressman Steve Stockman (R-TX)

The 28-count indictment of the former congressman and two aides portrays Stockman as the mastermind of a complex criminal scheme that collected $1.2 million from three U.S.-based foundations and individuals, laundered and misspent most of that money, spied on an unnamed opponent, accepted illegal campaign contributions, funneled money through bogus bank accounts and businesses and failed to pay taxes on his ill-gotten gains.
