PINAC, a.k.a. photographyisnotacrime.com, encourages and educates citizens to take a part in police accountability by recording misuse of power. Founded and operated by Carlos Miller, the author of The Citizen Journalist’s Photography Handbook, the site features stories, videos and photos of public-sector abuses of power and prosecutions resulting from citizen vigilance.
Miller created PINAC in 2007 in response to a lack of mainstream media coverage of these abuses. A call to arms of sorts, his channel is accompanied by a strong social media following of more than 266 thousand.
