There are a ton of people who have the exact same question, and some are dealing with it better than others. Believe it or not, there are a few things that you can do to appease both yourself, and them. We’re going to talk a bit about how you can deal with a sports-crazed partner, and most importantly, how you can survive the Super Bowl.

Yes, your partner might seem to be going crazy, and they might be walking around with one of those foam fingers, but you don’t want to become angry about it. Find Something You Enjoy

While your partner is completely engulfed in the world of sporting events, you can try to find something that you enjoy just as much. Maybe you like watching movies, maybe you’re into knitting, or maybe you want to take up some sports of your own – we hear paintball is a great stress reliever. The most important point that we’re trying to get across here, is that if you can establish a life and interests away from them during sports season, you have a better chance of staying sane. Think of it as a separation without the drama.

Schedule a Date Night

You can schedule one to two nights per week where you and your partner will spend the evening together. During that time, there should be no phones, and no distractions. Plan a candlelight dinner, a night out at the movies, or just a walk down the sidewalk – your choice.

Go Out with Friends

On game nights, occupy yourself by going out with your own friends; there are plenty of things for you to do out in the great wide world, from bowling, to shopping, and of course, eating. Game night doesn’t have to be boring for you – just let them take over the house for a bit while you enjoy yourself alongside your friends.

The most important thing we can say, is to be patient. The season will end, things will get back to normal, and your relationship will survive. Sports season is important, basketball, football, what have you, so let them enjoy it, and make sure that you’re able to enjoy it too by finding yourself, and ultimately arranging some great activities.
