Rinku Sen & Gary Delgado on Multiracial Movement Building

In this 8-minute podcast, my mentor and I talk about our childhoods and our first organizing experiences.

I love this podcast series that Race Forward created at the 2014 Facing Race conference. In this one, I talk with my former boss, mentor and friend Gary Delgado, who founded both of the organizations I've worked at the longest. I especially love his story about the first time he really thought of himself as an organizer, decades ago when he was an intern with the National Welfare Rights Organization. I also talk about my first organizing campaigns, how my friends brought me to consciousness and what I find so beautiful about the organizing process. After you've listened to this one, you can check out the rest of the series, featuring a few of the best, most creative organizers and artists of our time, including Bishop Tonya Rawls, Franchesca Ramsey, Ai-jen Poo, Malkia Cyril and LInda Sarsour.
