Why Did Competition Become a Dirty Word?

Competition is a struggle, but it also breeds excellence. When you look at another company outperforming yours, you have to look at what you can do to be better.

Success is not a zero-sum game, a fixed pie, and competition is not to be confused with envy, where we want others to lose so we can win. Good competition encourages us to challenge each other.

Is the opposite of competition cooperation or is it suppression? Does the removal of competition remove the incentive to be better?
