U.S. Adds 200,000 Jobs In January 2018, But There's a Catch to That Number

The increase in jobs is obviously good news, but there's another stat that we're largely ignoring: labor force participation rate.

As Bloomberg noted, the unemployment rate is holding at about 4.1%, the lowest since 2000, but the labor force participation rate is only 62.7%, the lowest level since the 1970s.

It's good that there is economic growth, but there needs to be something more than just work opportunity; we need to all have an appreciation for work, and be willing to get back to it.
