Does Trump Really Know What He Is Doing?

President Trump is determined to fix health care. He seems obsessed with the idea of being the President that rid the nation of Obamacare . For the record, I did vote for him and do think that he is better than the alternative. I also question if his motives are in the right place and this is a dangerous area to have the wrong motives.

There is no question that his heart is in the right place. I do believe, right or wrong, that he believes in making America great again. When it comes to certain areas, I think his objective to be the President of change "trumps" what is best for this country. Health care is a broken issue. The system which was a mess before Obamacare and is beyond fixable. He was ready to abolish Obamacare without a plan. This is an area of our country that will require major research and policy making. It will also require politics to be removed which might be impossible.

Now that he realized the handwriting on the wall that the other politicians are not going to participate in the creation of the Trump legacy, he is just going to piecemeal what he terms a solution through executive order. He executed an executive order that is suppose to magically decrease the cost of heath care. Now he wants to do away with subsidies while there are millions of Americans that rely on that subsidy to pay for crappy health insurance. Wouldn't it make sense to get the high cost of health insurance under control before you yanked the rug out from beneath people's feet and removed subsides?

Technically speaking, if you want to abolish Obamacare, you take away the right for every American to have health insurance. Bring pre-existing conditions back into the mix. That is what Obamacare is all about. The reality is that the Obamacare cloud will haunt him until he actually takes health care from the sick and makes it available only to the healthy. I think that what he is going to find is that he is making a disaster even more disastrous with this peace meal approach.

I completely agree that the system is beyond what is fixable at this point. That said, Obamacare is horrid. Trump had no choice but to seek to remove it first and then seek replacement. Some Democrats may work with him if it was gone, but none will until then.

But Republicans seem to enjoy being the opposition party rather than doing something, so neither replace nor repeal was passed. Completely infuriating.

@BillyS - you are correct about the Republican Party. They really are the problem. I guess my point is that he can be somewhat over the top when it comes to decision making. The fact he wanted to get rid of subsidies this close to open enrollment while betting on insurance companies to lower premiums was a miscalculation. Obamacare is the worst. Thanks for the comment
