Is it safe to drive with the check engine light on?

I'm waiting on parts to come in the mail. Is it safe to drive with the light on while I wait for the parts?

Scotty, love the videos.

I have a 2000 Lexus es300 with 145k miles on it & I love it. I haven't had any issues with it until now. The check engine light came on. It's just on, not blinking, luckily. I scanned the computer and got a "P0171 System To Lean Bank 1" code. I paid a mechanic 45$ to tell me what was causing the light to come on and he said one of the 2 front oxygen sensors is not working. He told me which one but I'm just gona replace them both at the same time.

I found a good deal on two O2 sensors online but they won't be here until one week from now. I made sure they weren't Chinese rip offs that were gona break in the near future.

My question is: is it safe to drive with the check engine light on while I wait for the parts to come in the mail? I drive to and from work. It's 14 miles round trip 5 days a week.

totally safe as long as the lights are not blinking on and off fast as you are driving. I've had guys drive em years that way in states that didn't do emissions testing
