I have a 1994 Mazda B4000 4.0L V6 Automatic with 236K miles on it. I’ve had this No crank/ No start issue for over a moth now. I turn the key over and it makes this metal sounding “ CLANG!” I have changed the starter, ignition switch, key cylinder, put new battery connectors on, cleaned the battery posts, new starter solenoid, checked the inertia switch( it was fine), fully charged battery, and a new fuel filter. Before it officially went out a moth ago, it started fine after I changed the starter and starter solenoid. One day I cranked the engine and it wouldn’t start. Shortly after I cranked the engine I felt a huge vibration from underneath me. I immediately turned the key off and took the key out. It still was cranking on its own. It took me 1 and 1/2 minutes to take the negative battery connector off. Through the whole duration of that 1 and 1/2 minute, the car never tuned over and started. What else could it be that is not making it crank& start and what would have made the car crank on its own?

sounds like a bad flywheel clankig like that. BUT, it could be you got a defective starter, or have a wiring short in the system causing it to crank by itself but not send power to the ignition system to start it
