Trump Sides With Putin: Labels Former FBI Chief, Former CIA and Intel Directors "Political Hacks"

Trump came out swinging against former intelligence chiefs at the FBI, the CIA, and the National Intelligence office. Trump was heading to Hanoi, Vietnam after Friday’s Asia-Pacific Summit meeting, where he and Putin spoke informally.

“They’re political hacks,” Trump said of the former CIA director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and former FBI chief James Comey, who have said that the evidence of Russian meddling is clear.

“You have Brennan, you have Clapper and you have Comey. Comey’s proven now to be a liar and he’s proven to be a leaker. So you look at that,” Trump said. “And you have President Putin very strongly, vehemently says he had nothing to do with that.”

“Well, look, I can’t stand there and argue with him,” Trump said. “I would rather have him get out of Syria, to be honest with you. I would rather … get to work with him on the Ukraine rather than standing and arguing about whether or not— because that whole thing was set up by the Democrats.”

“Having a relationship with Russia would be a great thing—not a good thing, it would be a great thing,” he said.

Add Hillary to the list and here's the question of the day: Is there any particular reason to believe any of them?

Interesting how the political situation in Saudi Arabia is liquid so soon after the "royal" visit to Moscow the other week. Wonder if the liberty of another intelligence chief, Bandar bin Sultan, was discussed at the meeting. With Bandar's connections to Bush and Blair this could get very interesting.

trump's comments were ridiculous. he backed putin and attacked u.s. intelligence. he offered no objective and factual support for his claim that putin didn't meddle. trump continues to undermine faith in u.s. institutions every time he opens is mouth. his walk back was ineffective as well. it was clearly intended to placate his handlers but it was crafted in such a way not to contradict his earlier statements so in the end what was communicated is that once again the white house is in chaos and dysfunctional. Trump created an imbroglio and a situation where one need not have been introduced all because he speaks unedited and without thinking first.

Sechel, the US intelligence agencies are rouge, autonomous actors. "If I had known the CIA would become the American Gestapo, I would never had founded it." - Harry S Truman.

The US is isolating itself from its traditional allies and partners, in terms of trade, politics and military. This is causing new alliances to develop and a shift in power throughout the world. Saudi Arabia is developing closer ties with China, Russia, and even Israel. China is taking advantage and beginning to fill the vacuum as the US withdraws from its relationships. TPP is moving ahead without the US. China has signed many deals with Saudi Arabia as the US pulls back. The resultant instability in Saudi Arabia could end up being the black swan event that stops the global economic expansion and causes the next economic downturn.

"Trusting your government" is always foolish.

At the end of the day, do you really believe that the Clinton Foundation receipt of $145 Million from the Uranium One directors wasn't completely corrupt? Do you believe it was such a small amount of money that no one in the Obama administration noticed it? Of course it was corrupt, as much so as Bill's speech in Moscow (for $500,000) given at the same time. What does it mean? Well, no one either investigated or prosecuted these obvious political crimes. The reason is that the Washington Swamp is as deep and corrupt as any banana republic, but much more powerful. I'm going with Trump on this. Picking a nuclear fight with N. Korea may be messy,....but with Russia, "insane" would be the only rational description. Amazing that the media, the Republican establishment, and an enormous swath of American citizens are confused in the face of all the information at our disposal.

Putin is dumbstruck, struck by the Dumb

@ El_Tedo. Is that's an argument that u.s. intelligence agencies are lying about Russian involvement? I don't follow your argument.

Clapper lied under Oath to Congress.. He's a proven liar. Brennan lied and also totally untrustworthy. Comey, well everyone knows now what kind of a snake he is. Personally, I believe Canakya Pandit, who advised everyone to NEVER trust a politician.
