Garbage. While mostly true, to connect it to a kid going and murdering a bunch of other kids is ridiculous. Really terrible post. I’m generally not disappointed in your blog, but this let’s me down.

The multiple mass shootings per year we have now was not a thing before at least 1980. Something else is going on besides just Americanism.

Sorry.....hit enter button & previous sentence was posted. Let me preface by saying I do not own any firearms, but I believe in the right for an individual to own them. IN my manufacturing business, we have manufactured many thousands of components used in M16 military rifles......final manufacturing firm was FN Manufacturing (Fabrique Nationale). My friends have complete arsenals of pistols, shotguns, and rifles (many are the popular AR15). I would estimate that my personal friends that own firearms have an average of 6 each with a boatload of ammunition. I do not consider them nuts. On to my question........Other than an outright ban on all firearms, are there any remedies to prevent mass shootings? Personally, I don't think so. The problem is akin to closing the barn door after the horse has already escaped. Not looking for a flame war, just would like to know other opinions.

media and politicians are promoting a very polarized atmosphere. is it any surprise that in such an environment some people with access to guns get radicalized and act on the hate messages they are hearing.

I don't think there is any direct recipie per se, because brooding over an apparently violent and authoritarian culture will only further antagonize the spirit of violence and authoritarianism. A culture based on relaxation and humour might be the best thing for it! With that said, here's a scientific racist explanation as to why this sort of thing generally doesn't occur in Europe: If you were to breed a Bully Kutta with a Gull Tarrier, then it just so happens that you will get a notriously aggressive and hard-to-control fighting dog known as a Gull Dong. In exactly the same way, if you were to permit the mass breeding of the Irish with the Germans, then it just so happens that you will get the American white populus. A recipe for ruining what would otherwise be a perfectly respectable British colony.

one thing is clear, letting the assault weapons ban end, did not decrease gun violence deaths
