HRF’s programs include a broad range of initiatives, such as successful campaigns to free political prisoners; on-the-ground education in closed societies; individual rights seminars from Silicon Valley to Capitol Hill; production of popular films and videos; scholarly legal research; strategic litigation before human rights bodies; high-impact media efforts; and the production of our flagship annual conference, the Oslo Freedom Forum. See the pages below for more information.
Art in Protest is an ongoing series of international art exhibitions and events produced by HRF, featuring artists whose work responds to injustice, inequality, violence, and oppression. The artwork addresses sociopolitical issues and challenges boundaries imposed by repressive regimes.
By challenging celebrities who perform for dictators, HRF can better expose their crimes and raise the social and professional cost for pop
stars that choose to fête tyrants. HRF reaches an audience who might
not otherwise be aware of these countries or human rights issues.
