Instructions

Knitting the Candy Corn Pieces

Pieces are worked with two needles flat. Finished triangles are about 5 inches long and 5 inches wide at the cast on edge. Gauge is not critical, but I got 4 stitches per inch in garter stitch. Make 8.

Using yellow, cast on 23 stitches.

Knit 3 rows.

Knit 1, slip, slip, knit, knit to 3 stitches from end, knit 2 together, knit 1.

Repeat these 4 rows throughout the project.

Work about 1 inch in yellow, then 2 inches in orange and 1 inch in white.

When 5 stitches remain and you need to decrease, ssk, k1, k2tog. Knit 1 row, then k2tog, knit the remaining stitch and pass the first stitch over to bind off.

Knitting the Base

The base is worked in the round from the center out. Mine is yellow, but you can use any color you like. It is about 6 inches across when finished.

Cast on 6 stitches.

Knit in the front and back of each stitch. Divide onto double-pointed needles and join in the round.

Knit 1 round.

Knit 2 rounds.

Knit 3 rounds.

Knit 4 rnds.

Finishing

Arrange the candy corn pieces so that they alternate base up, tip up. Sew the edges of the pieces together, then sew around the outside of the base.
