Woman Tries To Blow Up Officers On Traffic Stop

A Florida woman tried to light an explosive device after officers pulled her over in a residential neighborhood.

Jacksonville, FL – Jacksonville police found wigs, glasses and explosives in a woman’s vehicle on Tuesday night.

Charlaya Jo-Anne Moore told police she was headed to her employer’s residence, and then she attempted to ignite an explosive device during a traffic stop on Tuesday night.

Officers noticed Moore, 24, driving around the Grove Park area just before 11 p.m., the Florida Times-Union said.

An officer attempted to pull Moore over, but she drove away and the officer did not pursue her vehicle.

At about 11:15 p.m., another officer saw Moore’s Ford Fusion, and was able to stop the car.

Officers approached Moore and told her to get out of her vehicle, but she refused, police said.

She then reached under her seat, despite repeated commands from the officers to stop.

Moore “pulled out an explosive device and attempted to ignite it,” the Florida Times-Union said.

One officer unlocked the vehicle, while the second reached through the passenger side and took the device from Moore. Officers then removed Moore from her car.

A search of the vehicle yielded “multiple explosive devices,” the Florida Times-Union reported, as well as glasses and wigs.

Authorities did not specify what types of explosives were found in Moore’s car, but a police report said they took possession of one "bomb," WJXX said.

Moore told officers she was traveling to her boss’s house when she was pulled over.

Investigators have not said why Moore planned to visit her employer in the middle of the night.

Moore’s criminal history indicates a pattern of drug and trespass charges, WJXT said.

In 2015, Moore fought with officers while being evicted from an apartment complex.

According to a police report, she spit in the face of an officer and bit him on his right forearm, WJXT said.

Moore currently faces charges of possession of a destructive device with intent of bodily harm, aggravated assault on a police officer, and resisting an officer with violence.

Her bail was set at $615,500.
