Portland, OR - Portland PD officers fatally shot an armed carjacking suspect Saturday night.
According to The Oregonian, at around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a collision at Southeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
While they were en route, they determined that the vehicle involved has been carjacked earlier that day.
Officers located the suspect at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting being held at a nearby homeless shelter, and they received reports that he was armed.
Few other details have been officially released at this time, and it's unclear what exactly happened before the video started.
Police arrived and the start of the video showed people fleeing from the suspect.
According to The Oregonian, Portland Police spokesman Sgt. Chris Burley said that it was unclear if the suspect was armed at the time he was shot. However, the suspect's knife is clearly visible in the video.
Officers in the video could be heard repeatedly ordering the suspect to drop his knife, and he refused to do so.
An unknown number of officers shot the suspect, who later succumbed to his injuries.
The officers have been placed on administrative leave and evidence collected in the shooting will be presented to a grand jury, which is standard for Portland PD shootings.
The suspect has not been identified, and it has not yet been confirmed if he is the carjacker.
