VIDEO: On-Duty Deputy Shoots Ex-Girlfriend, Then Turns Gun On Himself

A deputy drove to his ex-girlfriend's place while on duty and shot her three times and then killed himself

Boynton Beach, Fla. – Police released surveillance footage of a county sheriff’s deputy shooting his ex-girlfriend in a parking lot and then committing suicide while he was in uniform and on duty. (Video below)

Police said the full video shows the entire incident, from the deputy shooting his ex-girlfriend and then turning the gun on himself.

The Boynton Beach Police Department released an edited version that showed the sheriff’s deputy approaching the ex-girlfriend and ending moments before the Oct. 12 shooting.

In the video, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael DeMarco got out of his unmarked sheriff’s car and followed Yuly Solano as he appeared to be talking to her.

Solano told police that DeMarco told her, “You treat me worse than a dog,” right before he shot her.

After going off-camera, the two appeared back in the video and DeMarco had a gun in his hand and Solano was retreating with her hand over her mouth.

DeMarco shot his ex-girlfriend once in the arm and twice in the chest. He then slumped and placed the handgun to his head.

Solano fully recovered from the shooting while DeMarco died at the scene.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Solano told police she’d ended their relationship a few weeks before the shooting “because he was being racist and very possessive of her.”

Solano told detectives she had planned to file formal complaints about DeMarco with the condo board and property managers but had not gotten around to it before the shooting, according to police documents released, the Palm Beach Post reported.

Solano and DeMarco had dated for about seven months, according to the New York Post. They had been broken up for a few weeks when the shooting occurred.

You can see the surveillance video here (shots edited out):

Well, whether she was a bitch to him or not - which is nothing more than speculation - she certainly didn't deserve to be shot.

But maybe he was right in shooting himself?

@JaneSays99 "But, being a cop, I'm sure if he'd meant to kill her, she'd be dead right now." Well...he shot her three times, twice in the chest. That's what cops call...a clue.

Wow. JaneSays99. You are way out there in na na land aren't you?

There is never any excuse to kill someone over a relationship. Any cop who has been around will tell you these kind of murders are not so unusual. The question is, why is one woman worth your life when there are so many fish in the sea. If they are a bitch or whatever, yet you are in love, you still let go and move on. Time heals all. This is a tragedy. People get crazy when emotions are involved. They lose all common sense and dignity. I am glad the woman lived.

I can understand that for Law Enforcement Officers any officer acting in a manner not consistent with the oath they took when becoming officers is hard to accept and a blemish to their profession. What Deputy Michael DeMarco did is tragic and terrible. But to title this post on facebook saying he wasn't a real cop and that he did us a favor by killing himself is WRONG WRONG WRONG. Law Enforcement Officers face daily pressures we citizens are PRIVILEGED to not have to face at the expense of those officers. Add personal, emotional, or financial pressures on top of that and like any human these valiant men and women can crack under such weight. Deputy DeMarco had family members and colleagues whom I am sure mourn his loss. I am disappointed with this site that you would title your post that way.

@JackMcGarey Everybody at Blue Lives Matter is familiar with the pressures of being a law enforcement officer. I know more people with PTSD than I can count. We've lost friends to suicide. But no matter how much anybody has had to endure, they don't attempt to murder people. I've seen multiple of domestic violence murder/suicides, and in each one, the killer gave indications ahead of time that he was a scumbag. And indeed, in this case, she says she ended the relationships “because he was being racist and very possessive of her.” Good people may lose themselves to suicide, but they don't try to murder their ex-girlfriends.

Officer Blue.....he's dead so you only have her side since he can't respond. Perhaps she should have reported him. Perhaps she should have gotten an exparte'. Maybe shes now lying. No wonder people don't trust cops! You jump on the bandwagon to make one look like shit instead of maybe trying to help him before it got to this point! And yes, I come from a line of LEO's myself, so I get it.

People defending this shit head? Must F'king kidding? .......Guy was slag, I'm glad hes dead!

I agree with Officer Blue. He had pressures, I am sure, but people under pressure either get help, or, sad to say, suicide..... If they are compassionate human beings. They don't kill another person, then suicide. That is pathetic. By killing another in cold blood, he has trashed his oath to protect and serve. Anyone defending him for doing this, is pathetic imo. There is no excuse to be made for killing in cold blood. None.

What a selfish jerk, I wish he was alive so we could get his side of the story before punishing him. We'll also never know if he was actually racist and possessive, she might have made that up or spent to long on tumblr. Glad she recovered, she's lucky he didn't follow up with a bullet to the head or a mag dump. (Also glad the dog is OK[At least he/she/it/toucan/2017sucked better be])
