VIDEO: Department Responds To Video Of Toledo Officer Punching Woman Back At Zombie Crawl

The Toledo Police Department has responded to a video which shows an officer punching a woman during a zombie crawl.

Toledo, OH – Police have arrested a woman who attacked a police officer during a large zombie crawl event in Toledo on Saturday night (video below).

Toledo Police Officer Jeffrey Goetz was working an off-duty detail at the Adams Street Zombie Crawl around midnight when he intervened in a fight, according to The Toledo Blade.

Linda Cargill, age 37, was fighting with someone in the street, and didn’t appreciate Officer Goetz’s efforts to separate them.

“[T]he cop tried to stop the fight then she started punching the cop so he punched her repeatedly,” witness Ashley Roper said in an online message to The Toledo Blade. “[T]hen when he had her on the ground he tased her.”

Cargill reportedly turned around and punched Officer Goetz twice in the face and nose, with a closed fist.

Both Officer Goetz and Cargill fell to the ground struggling, where Cargill continued fighting with the officer.

Officer Goetz was reported to have punched Cargill back in self-defense.

He then deployed a Taser to try and get her to stop fighting and comply with his instructions, as is seen on the video below.

On Sunday, Toledo Police Department Spokesman Sgt. Kevan Toney said that he had watched one social media video, but that "it did not clearly show what happened."

“I haven’t seen the report, but I do believe the officer did defend himself after he was punched in the face,” Sgt. Toney said.

Cargill was transported to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, which Sgt. Toney said is normal procedure for all suspects who have been Tased, or injured, during an incident.

Officer Goetz was "projecting" at the Zombie Crawl, according to Sgt. Toney. That means he was working at an approved event off-duty, being paid by a third party.

Officers working off-duty assignments have their usual police powers, but are not required to wear bodycams.

Sgt. Toney said that a police supervisor responds to all incidents where a Taser is used, and reviews all use of force reports.

Cargill was later arrested on a warrant for assaulting a police officer, a fourth degree felony.

JBo, that shouldn't take too long ... 5,4,3,2,...

Some idiots think cops should never punch people. Those people have never truly experienced life. Good job officer!

A punch to the face is an effective way of stunning a person. When an officer is struck, they respond to that use of force with force. Why would anyone think otherwise???
