According to the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader, Delinda Jensen posted an Oct. 2 message on Facebook that said, “Yes I am jaded. Fifty nine meat eaters dead. How many animals will live because of this?” Then Jensen added, “I don’t give a f--- about carnists anymore.”
Jensen, 60, is owner of The Mother Nature Vegan Cuisine food truck. She claims she has received death threats since her Facebook post.
Jensen, a former adjunct history professor at Marywood University, told the newspaper she is living in fear since her Facebook post. She said she is out of business and the food truck is in storage.
“I f----- up,” Jensen told the newspaper. “Was it poorly written? Absolutely. Do I regret it? Yes. I am so sorry I wrote that.”
Jensen insisted she was not celebrating the death of 59 people.
“Meat eaters or not, no one deserves to die like that,” Jensen said. “I wasn’t celebrating the death of those people. That’s not how vegans think — we are non-violent.”
Jensen deactivated her Facebook account. Jensen said she was told that someone contacted media outlets in Las Vegas about her Facebook post.
“It’s almost like a lynch mob is forming,” said Jensen. “It’s seems that it’s no longer about the Facebook post — now it’s about eating meat.”
Jensen said she is angry at herself for “a moment of stupidity.” She felt her vegan business was popular and that she offered food to the homeless.
“We’re done,” Jensen said. “We canceled all of our booked events. We had a really good product, too.”
“There’s just so much visceral hate out there,” she said.
