School Teacher Tells Students Veterans Are The 'Lowest Of The Low'

The high school teacher and city councilman called military service members the "lowest of the low."

Pico Rivera, CA - El Rancho High School teacher Gregory Salcido, who is also a city councilman, was recorded by a student while going on an anti-military rant.

Kimberlie Flauto posted a video of the incident to Facebook on Friday, with the following message:

Help me make this go viral. My friends son was sporting his marine sweater while this liberal douche teacher rants about the military. The school is called El rancho high school in the city of pico rivera california. The teacher's name is MR. Salcido.

Here are the el rancho unified school district board members emails...

The video is difficult to hear at times, but in the video, Salcido can be heard saying, "Think about the people you know who are over there. Your freakin' stupid Uncle Louie or whatever. They're dumbsh***s. They're not high-level bankers. They're not academic people. They're not intellectual people. They're the freakin' lowest of the low."

He went on about how the United States doesn't have a good military because it can't beat "people in robes" or the Vietnamese who were "throwing rice at us," and the only reason we won World War 2 was because we had a bomb.

The student who recorded the video wished to remain anonymous, but said that he made the recording during a Jan. 19 history class taught by Salcido.

The student told The OC Register that his father and two uncles are Marine veterans who fought in Afghanistan, Desert Storm, and Vietnam.

“It was so disrespectful to my dad and my uncles and all veterans and those still in the military,” he told OC Register.

This latest incident comes after Salcido was accused of assaulting a student in 2012.

“Mr. Salcido, with his open hand, smacked the back of my son’s head, and then shouted, `Get the (expletive) out of my class,”‘ a mother told Los Angeles Daily News at the time.

“I smacked him, but not with any intent to do harm. I just told him to wake up.” Salcido told Los Angeles Daily News at the time. “He was two feet away from me. I wanted to get his attention.”

Many states allow teachers to legally smack students as discipline, but it's specifically prohibited in California. It's not clear why Salcido was never charged.

In 2010, while Salcido was mayor, he was placed on administrative leave at the high school after being accused of making "inappropriate comments about race," insulting students and parents, and telling a student, "shut up Kelly before I kill you." Salcido said that his comment was humorous, according to Whittier Daily News.

In response to the latest anti-veteran rant, Salcido has only made a statement on Facebook saying, "The Salcido 3 just got out of an excellent musical, 'The Band’s Arrival'. I turned my phone back on to unexpectedly see a storm. I don’t think it’s wise for me to make any specific comments, but I want my friends, family, and students to know we are fine and we respect the rights of free expression for all individuals."

El Rancho Unified School District Superintendent Karling Aguilera-Fort told OC Register that they can confirm that the incident happened and that they will be investigating.

“We cannot expose the disciplinary measures because it is a personnel matter, but there will be disciplinary measures taken,” Aguilera-Fort told OC Register.

She did not state if Salcido would be right back in the classroom after his stern talking-to.

Teachers should be unbiased while teaching. He has the right to his views but should not be allowed to preach them to his students. The first amendment does not mean you can say whatever you want at work. It only protects you from government oppression. An employer can control what you say and do while on the clock.

I served this Nation 22 years (USN, USAF, USCG), retired and owned my own business. This school teacher & city councilman thinks he is some kind of special person, a "Know-It-All". Beyond any shadow of a doubt, the city and school are really hurting for employees to have hired this stinking P-O-S. His speech does not quality him as a teacher, I feel for the children that have to try and understand him, how can they learn? Another comment says that he may be qualified to work cleaning toilets, etc., I totally agree and that may be a qualification over his head. I would plea that the school system needs to fire him as unqualified, his job is not to teach his personal beliefs. I will not list all the career jobs and schools that I went to in the service but, they do give me the education to call him out as unqualified. Nuff said.

@Richard Kurtz I agree with that. I'm not at all defending his right to say that to kids, and he should be dealt with according to his employers. I'm defending his right to say it in general, with no government intervention, because some have suggested otherwise.

Thank you for your service!

Someone needs to inform this idiot teacher that the reason there hasn't been a decisive "Win" since WW II is because of lawyers on a battlefield and idiotic politicians that insist on some pretty dumb ROE...Also ask Mr. History here in this video WHY the Rooskies rolled into Berlin first and also ask him what the Rooskies did once they were in Berlin? Also if we want to win wars in a quick, decisive fashion then remove the lawyers from the battlefield, establish sensible ROE and knock the shit out of any communist protestors, arrest them and drop them behind enemy lines with enough Summer's Eve, they can choose the flavor, to last them until they are captured by the enemy which would be no more than 30 minutes

I agree with you except on the "Weak minds" category. These are kids that are being taught lessons that these kids have never lived through or seen, just like some of us. I would say these kids have "Moldable minds" and that is the problem when subversive teachers teach lies to these kids and a parent, teacher or anyone else doesn't correct the lies. When my kids came home from school I would sit and ask what they learned today while doing their homework with them and my school district has employed some really good teachers in my rural Midwest area. Every once in awhile my kids would tell me what they learned and I would either correct the problem or expand on what the teacher as being correct but there is more to the story. I would talk to the teachers at times about some "Lessons" that were taught and we would generally find out that we agreed but the teachers didn't explain better because they are limited in time and teach for tests or test answers. My oldest son had a math problem on his homework that dealt with navigation and he was stuck on it so I grabbed an old chart and thought I will teach him something else at the same time. Turns out that all three answers to choose from were wrong so I told him to circle the closest answer but to go too class and show the teacher why he chose the answer. My son came home and told me "Mrs. soandso said the answer I circled was exact and correct and she said that you were wrong" I went to the school one day with a chart, dividers, parallels and a few other things. Mrs. soandso said "Hmmm I guess you are right but any other answer on the test will be marked wrong" and when I left I told her "Thank God that whomever but this problem in the book was never in the military or if they were they didn't get high enough in rank to get people hurt or killed" That day my son learned that teachers can be wrong and to also question, and check everything of importance out for himself. Moldable minds not weak minds at a young age. The weak minds are the people that don't do the work, cause trouble in class, can't find a decent job after graduation and cry, complain and blame their problems on other people and want these other people to take care of them and supply them a great lifestyle while sitting on their asses in a dwelling that other people's work provided

I meant the WEAK MINDED TEACHER. The Kids know hes a fool

This guy should be sent to siberia

It is truly amazing to me that such people are allowed to teach in our schools.
