GQ Names Kaepernick 'Citizen Of The Year' - Blue Lives Matter Names The Real Citizen Of The Year

Fashion magazine GQ compared the cop-hating quarterback to the likes of legendary athletes Jackie Robinson and Muhammad Ali.

New York City - Men’s fashion magazine Gentleman’s Quarterly decided to hand out a “Citizen of the Year” honor for the first time and chose anti-police former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick as their winner, comparing him to the likes of Jackie Robinson and Muhammad Ali.

GQ wrote they were “celebrating the man who became a movement.”

“He's been vilified by millions and locked out of the NFL - all because he took a knee to protest police brutality,” the magazine wrote. “But Colin Kaepernick's determined stand puts him in rare company in sports history: Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson—athletes who risked everything to make a difference.”

Except the only thing that Kaepernick has made a difference in is reducing the NFL viewership.

Kaepernick's critics say the quarterback is unemployed because of his general attitude problem.

Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis said that the Ravens were in the process of signing Kaepernick as a backup quarterback when Kaepernick’s girlfriend Nessa Diab made a racist tweet Aug. 2.

Diab compared Lewis and Ravens’ owner Steve Bisciotti with the Samuel Jackson slave character and Leonardo DiCaprio slave-owner character from the movie Django Unchained.

His poor performance in recent seasons is another reason nobody has hired Kaepernick.

While he led the San Francisco 49ers to a 12-4 record at age 26 in 2013, the 49ers were a pitiful 3-16 with Kaepernick as their starting quarterback in his last two years in 2015 and 2016.

He asked to be released from the 49ers at the end of the 2016 season and hasn’t been signed by any other team.

Others have said Kaepernick's antics would create a distraction in the locker room that wasn’t worth the controversy for someone who would only be a backup at age 30.

Kaepernick began his anti-police protests by kneeling in the 2016 NFL pre-season.

He wore socks during that pre-season that had cartoon pigs dressed as police. He also posted a photo on Twitter comparing a “runaway slave patrol” badge with a police badge.

GQ makes the claim that Kaepernick’s kneeling has kept him off a NFL roster.

“Approximately 90 men are currently employed as quarterbacks in the NFL, as either starters or reserves, and Colin Kaepernick is better—indisputably, undeniably, flat-out better—than at least 70 of them,” the magazine wrote.

GQ's Facebook page was buzzing with angry readers.

“Your choice of this man is a direct insult to our military and law enforcement personnel,” a Jeff Finchum wrote on the GQ Facebook page announcing its decision. “You’ve chosen a rich spoiled millionaire who CHOSE to walk away from the NFL then cried collusion. A man who has feigned moral outrage when he himself has no morals. Your so called "progressive" magazine and supposed ideals have contributed to REGRESS American values and race relation. You ARE part of the problem and not the solution. A more appropo title for him would be Man-Child of the Year.”

“It’s obvious this was done for attention and shock value,” a Frank DeBlasi said on the Facebook page. “Sales must be seriously down with this magazine.”

GQ has ignored the real citizen of the year, Stephen Willeford, age 55.

Willeford is a plumber who received a call from his daughter while the Texas church mass shooting was in-progress, according to the New York Post.

She told him that a man wearing body armor was inside the church shooting worshippers.

Willeford didn't hesitate, according to Texas Department of Public Safety Chief Freeman Martin, who said, "Willeford grabbed his rifle and engaged the suspect."

He shot the killer, Devin Kelley, after he came face-to-face with the gunman as he came out of the church, hitting him through a gap in his body armor.

Kelley dropped his rifle and fled, and Willeford knew he had to go after him to make sure no one else would be harmed.

Willeford then jumped into a truck driven by resident Johnnie Langendorff, and the pair pursued Kelley until they ensured that he was dead.

Stephen Willeford risked his life to engage a killer in combat, and saved many lives. He's the real citizen of the year - not an unemployed millionaire.

shut the fuck up. you don't even read GQ. are you going to buy a subscription to cancel and boycott it?

How appalling is it for ANY organization, group or Publisher of a magazine, especially a fashion magazine to honor a racist, Anti-America [American traditions and values of this great nation] Anti-President of America, President Donald Trump [YES HE IS MY PRESIDENT ] and someone as despicable as Kaepernick, who disgraces our nation by refusing to stand an honor our National Anthem! #BoycottGQ We absolutely must unite and make our voices heard. Now the California-based NAACP President is calling for removing our National Anthem because it is racist and biased! I'm sick and tired of the Blacks playing poor, poor me, with their race card bs. Are you kidding me? We as Americans must stand up for our #POTUS and for our #NationalAnthem I will do everything in my power to get my message across. Burn every copy of GQ magazine! Protest against Kaepernick! He makes $Millions of dollars. He is living the American dream. Many Americans struggle to pay their bills and many are homeless. Our Veterans are sleeping on doorsteps and begging for change and handouts! They are our Heroes! Not some spoiled punk that claims blacks are being murdered by our law enforcement officers! Every time they riot and march because a Black was shot, they just cry out "Innocent Black is Murdered by Police"! Trayvon Martin attacked Zimmerman by banging his head into concrete! Michael Brown robbed a cigar store and then he brazenly was walking down the street with the stolen merchandise. The Police officer stopped him because he had cigars sticking out of his pockets and there was an APB issued to be on the lookout for a black male for grand theft! When Brown was intercepted and questioned, he punched the officer in the face and went for the officer's gun! Enough fakenews and playing the race card! Fact: There are Black on Black murders everyday throughout our cities. Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, Watts, Oakland, etc. has hundreds of homicides because Blacks kill other Blacks in drug wars,Turf wars and Prostitution rings and Gang wars. Know the Facts!

Grow up people! Kapernick's foundation is dedicating 'hundreds of thousands' of dollars to assist at-risk youths. He teaches kids to respect self, others and how to keep themselves safe when interacting with police ("peace" officers). His foundation outlines where EVERY cent donated goes. Show me another charity that does it. Yet, you people pout like little babies. Colin gave up a career and millions of dollars in order to make this world safer for our youths. Yet, all you people can do is post your racist nonsense. Go to his website. Educate yourselves, before exposing your ignorance to the world. We would not have to repetitiously make the point that Black Lives Matter, if our Justice System was truly blind. I know that Blue Lives Matter, and so do you. I know that White Lives Matter, and so do you. I know that Black Lives Matter....do you?

@KayeKaye07, your comment is laughable, if it was not so sad. Yes, people let's buy up all the GQ magazines and burn them. Let's make this edition the hottest selling item ( no pun intended). Thanks for sharing your so-called facts, SMH.

@Lakersfan4life You mean the children's organizations that have yet to receive anything? THOSE children's organizations? Yes, let's hail the man for pledging to do something he hasn't yet done. Plenty of charities mark exactly where every penny goes, that's what is required of a 501(c)3 charity. So he should be "citizen of the year" because he quit his job, divided a country, made promises and didn't keep them, and does what he is supposed to? What low standards you must have...

@KayeKaye07 You do realize that isn't a flag right? It's a towel... people have been getting very confused lately in what constitutes a flag and what doesn't. This, is not a flag. While I wouldn't sit on anything that looked like the flag, he isn't doing anything purposefully disrespectful. But hey, let's keep using the excuse that if someone else does it, it's ok for others to.

To be clear, no one said anything about buying them... only setting them on fire. But that would hurt the business, not the magazine.

"How dare he use his fame and platform to bring attention to unarmed black men being shot in the streets. What an asshole." what about the armed black men in the streets that do %93 of all the killing of their "brothers" in the streets

I give my vote to the men and women in blue these are the true every day heroes that PATROL and Protect our streets and all you hear today is the bad news about police what about the things they do on a daily basis pulling over a drunk driver before he kills someone going out on a Domestic call never knowing what lies ahead fear is a daily part of life for them but do they show it no because they are true HEROS..

Stephen Willeford 👈👍👍GQ has a serious issue on its hand. Time will prove this. Jeff Finchum posted an excellent, "well-worded" comment on GQ's FB page, which was quoted in this article: “Your choice of this man [Kaepernick] is a direct insult to our military and law enforcement personnel..." I couldn't have worded this any better.

JJ Watt anyone???? 35 million raised for hurricane victims in Huston..
