Modesto, CA - A Stanislaus County Sheriff's Deputy and Community Service Officer were both killed in a fiery collision on Saturday.

The incident happened around 8:19 AM. The deputy was driving a patrol vehicle with the community service officer riding as a passenger as they were en route to a burglary call.

As the vehicle was heading north on Crows Landing Road, near Seventh Street, the vehicle left the roadway, crashed into Modesto Auto Wreckers, and then burst into flames, according to Modesto Bee.

“Emergency personnel arrived on scene to a fully engulfed vehicle and they did everything they could to save the two occupants of the vehicle,” CHP Officer Thomas Olsen said. “It is a sad day for us here in Stanislaus County, for all of us.”

Neither hero has been identified at this time. They both had 16 years with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department.

This latest tragedy comes just six months, to the day, after Stanislaus County Sheriff's Deputy Dennis Wallace was murdered execution style as he was investigating a suspicious vehicle. That suspect, David Machado, put a gun directly to Deputy Wallace's head as he murdered the hero. Deputy Dennis Wallace, 53, was a 20-year veteran.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the fallen heroes and the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department.
