Wilmington, DE - While most people run away from a fight, Sgt. Michael Shannon Robinson didn't.
The veteran constable, age 48, suffered a fatal heart attack on Thursday, October 12, while rushing to assist nursing staff.
Sgt. Robinson, age 48, served with the Christiana Care Health System Department of Public Safety at Wilmington Hospital, according to Gloucester City News .
The incident occurred about 6 PM while Sgt. Robinson was running to assist nursing staff who were dealing with a disorderly and combative patient. He collapsed while he was responding to assist.
Sgt. Robinson was a Navy veteran. He had served with the Christiana Care Health System Department of Public Safety for 13 years.
He also served with the Belvedere Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter.
Sgt. Robinson is survived by his wife, three children, parents, and two brothers.
Constables with the Christiana Care Health System are commissioned Delaware law enforcement officers.
