Largo, FL - Pinellas County Sheriff's Sergeant Michael Borland died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Monday.
Sgt. Borland, 44, was married to another sergeant in the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, according to WFLA.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said that Sgt. Borland was off-duty at the time of his death.
His body was found beside his cruiser about 9 AM in the parking lot of the St. Petersburg College Veterinary Technology Center, at 12376 Ulmerton Road.
Detectives said that his death is being considered a suicide.
Sgt. Borland began his career with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office in 1996, and was assigned to the Patrol Operations Bureau. He was promoted to Sergeant in May.
