Azealia Banks often tends to get in too much trouble for her own good, but Complex reports that she may be willing to go on the offensive regarding some harsh comments that Wendy Williams made about her—someone who is equally likely to catch controversy with their statements.
Williams implied that the rapper was a prostitute on a live broadcast, which set things off. “Now we understand how she gets her money,” Williams said during her “Hot Topics” segment. “She’s got no kids and she’s 26, with a vaginal rejuvenation? Wow. she works hard for her money.” Banks later admitted that she actually cried over the statements, but sometime between her hearing the comments and making a public response, that sadness turned into anger.
Nearly one week later, Banks posted a meme of Williams on Instagram. “The last five years taught me when you’re an Azealia Banks stan, you can make it thru anything,” the meme stated. Banks followed the post with a message in the caption. “TOUGH AS STEEL… Wendy is getting sued top of 2018,” Banks wrote. It’s not clear exactly what the lawsuit would be about, but likely something to do with defamation.
This isn’t even the first lawsuit Banks has threatened this month, though. Following a back and forth online with Remy Ma, Banks publicly mused using legal action. “Just realizing that I can sue Remy Ma for trying to paint me in a false light,” Banks wrote in an Instagram story. “Those pictures were not of my vagina yet she showed them to the world trying to say it was. I responded to something she said publicly and her response was making a private conversation between the two of us public.” The photos in question were screenshots of supposed texts between the two rappers, posted by Ma, that included explicit photos of Banks.
However, Banks does have some limits, including publicly apologizing to Beyoncé for calling her a thief and insulting the Lemonade album. "I apologize for throwing tantrums in the past. They totally came from a place of feeling left out," she wrote. "You've inspired so much of the way I think about/value you myself as a performer and I ADORE you. Your presence in the art world and on earth is supernatural and am so so so inspired by you."
"YOU DESERVE THE BEST. You deserve the finest things in life AND FINEST ART the art world has to offer. What's mine is yours... anything you want of my art, etc YOU CAN HAVE," she continued. "I would give you the clothes off of my back girl!! Thank you for always making the little black girl in me smile. You've truly always been a beacon of light for me and I'm so so humbled by this. Love, Azealia." Beyoncé had no response.
