Just a short time ago, White was adamant that the boxing match between McGregor and Mayweather would never, ever happen. Even if it somehow were to ever take place, the UFC President stated that all the parties involved would have to go through him, with McGregor being under contract with the UFC.
Now, with White being confident that the fight will actually take place, it seems like the stars are beginning to align with the fight many pundits and reporters gawked at when the talks of the match first came to light.
TMZ recently asked White with all the Floyd and Conor talk that has been buzzing around so much lately, when we should expect to see “The Notorious” fight in the UFC again.
“I don’t know,” White said. “He obviously has a lot of opportunities right now. Tony Ferguson is out there. You know, the Floyd Mayweather thing is out there. We’ll see how this thing plays out.”
The representative from TMZ was surprised that White brought up Mayweather’s name and asked White if it was still a possibility.
“Yeah, I mean there’s … it doesn’t make a lot of sense for my business, but I would never keep Conor from making that kind of money.”
However, White was asked about the June 10 holding date for the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas that many presumed was for the McGregor vs. Mayweather bout, to which the UFC boss said had nothing to do the UFC or McGregor vs. Mayweather.
“It has nothing to do with us,” said White. “Nothing to do with the Floyd-Conor fight.”
