TX survivor not surprised by shooting: 'Eventually it was going to happen here'

She added, "I wasn’t surprised, I was just scared."

At least one student at the Texas high school that was the target of a mass shooting earlier today, leaving at least 10 dead and several injured, said she was expecting something like this to happen.

17-year-old Paige Curry, who attends Santa Fe High School, told ABC News she was not at all shocked a disgruntled gunman opened fire there; just terrified.

Shortly after the incident a reporter asked Curry, "Was there a part of you that was like, 'this is not real... this could happen in my school?'" Her answer was nothing short of heartbreaking and infuriating:

“It’s been happening everywhere. I’ve always kind of felt it like eventually it was going to happen here too. I wasn’t surprised, I was just scared."

Curry continued:

“I got up and I ran, and we went onto the stage and we hid backstage,” she said. “Then the alarm started going off, and we hid back there for a while until the [SWAT team] found us. It was really, really scary.”

If this isn't enough to break your heart, we don't know what is. But will it be enough for anyone to actually DO SOMETHING to stop it from happening again? Sadly, we have our doubts.
