Sarah Sanders, the White House press secretary, recently whined to The New York Times about people calling her a liar. “It certainly bothers me because one of the few things you have are your integrity and reputation,” said Sanders.
The press secretary outright lies, and it has been documented on more than one occasion. PolitiFact has cited at least four recent occasions Sanders was caught in a lie. Specifically, in November she made the false statement that diversity visa immigrants are not vetted. They are. Also, in October, she claimed that Chicago had the toughest gun laws in the country. They don’t. In July, she claimed that Trump has “in no way, form or fashion” promoted violence. He has. Then in March of last year, she claimed that “multiple news outlets” reported on Obama ordering wiretapping of Trump. They didn’t.
Even the lies that have not been specifically verified are still painfully obvious. Like earlier this month when she tried to insist that Trump was “committed to a free press,” except she said that right AFTER Trump talked about stripping reporters of their credentials.
We can’t put all the blame on Sander’s shoulders as it is probably difficult for her to do her job when her source, Trump, lies so constantly that what is true changes by the minute. As she said in an interview, “There’s a difference between misspeaking or not knowing something than maliciously lying.”
While there is a difference between misspeaking and outright lying, it doesn’t make her claim about her “integrity and reputation” any less laughable. She has proven time and again that she has no integrity because she will blindly defend statements that she know to be false.
You are a liar, Mrs. Sanders. Your boss is a liar, Mrs. Sanders. You know it, and most of America knows it. If you don’t like being called a liar, quit fucking lying.
