Josh Hawley, the Trump endorsed Senate Candidate running against Claire McCaskill thinks sex trafficking is women’s own damn fault. Despite zero evidence of an uptick in human trafficking in the 1960s or 70s, Hawley blames counterculture, women’s liberation, and the pill. He spewed this nonsense at ‘Pastors and Pews’ event in and they ate it up. Now that’s a hot take on the whole ‘she asked for it’ angle isn’t it?
Hawley’s remarks, made in December at a conference called “Rediscovering God in America,” were unearthed Wednesday. “You know what I’m talking about, the 1960s, the 1970s it became commonplace in our culture, among our cultural elites, Hollywood, the media, to denigrate the biblical truth about husband and wife... The sexual revolution has led to exploitation of women on a scale that we would never have imagined..“ Hawley’s campaign did not refute the remarks, and his spokes person said “I’m not sure what part was unclear,” Hawley doubled down by posting the audio on YouTube with comments disabled.
Claire McCaskill had an educated burning reply, illustrating just why “Christian” men like Hawley don’t want women liberated. “I didn’t go to one of those fancy private schools,” Ms. McCaskill said, referring to Hawley’s Yale Degree, “but the history I learned in public schools & Mizzou taught me that the evidence of trafficking of women for sex goes back to before 2000 BC. It didn’t begin with women’s rights and the birth control pill,” McCaskill tweeted.
