While Trump is taking trade with Beijing, daddy’s little girl is raking in a slew of new trademarks in China. Ivanka has received seven new trademarks from the Chinese State Administration for Industry and Commerce.
Ethics experts think this might be considered a tad sketchy since Ivanka and her husband, Jared, are senior advisers to the White House. Ethics chief for President Obama explains, “the come at a time when her father and his administration, in which she and her husband work, are making enormously consequential decisions with and about China.”
He goes on to say, “The conflict comes because we do not know if the Trump administration is making these official decisions [on China] to benefit the US, or to get more trademarks and other benefits for the Trump family.”
A spokesperson for Ivanka’s brand states that no funny business was involved in the trademarks, but of course they wouldn’t admit to anything unethical now would they?
