Trump flew out to Texas last week to meet with the parents of the Santa Fe High School victims, and not everyone was thrilled to see him. Rhonda Hart, the mother of a 14-year-old girl that was slain in the shooting, was not very impressed by her meeting with the president. One of her biggest complaints was that Trump repeatedly referred to the shooter as “wacky.”
Hart noticed that Trump seemed fixated on the idea of arming the teachers. She said, “It was like talking to a toddler.”
Another parent, Pamela Stanich, mother of a 17-year-old killed in the massacre, felt a little differently about her time speaking with Trump. Stanich thought he showed “sincerity, compassion, and concern on making our schools safer across the nation.”
She must have missed the press footage of Trump preparing for the trip. Before leaving D.C., he told reporters “we are going to Dallas, we are going to Houston. We are going to have a little fun today.”
“Fun” isn’t usually how a compassionate person describes a meeting with grieving parents. But then again, supposed human being Dear Leader Trump is a special kind of deplorable.
