'Shithole Countries:' Trump’s remarks are dog whistle to bigoted base

Trump only wants immigrants from "Norway." I wonder why THAT is?

The President, Of the United States, in our Oval Office, in our White House, on Thursday January eleventh, called Haiti, El Salvador, and African nations “a bunch of shithole countries.” I just. Can’t. Even.

The full quote, delivered in front of multiple lawmakers while discussing a bipartisan immigration proposal was, “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump then suggested we need more immigrants from Norway and asked “Why do we need more Haitians?”

White House officials did not dispute the account, and spokesman Raj Shah launched into a bunch of hyperbole about ‘America first’ and ‘the wall.’ Representative Gutierrez laid it down saying, “Democrats and Republicans in the Senate made a proposal. The answer is this racist outburst...They [Republicans] don’t believe in immigration — it’s always been about people of color and keeping them out of this country.” Representative Richmond, chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, said Trump’s remarks “are further proof that his Make America Great Again Agenda is really a Make America White Again agenda.”

Steven Miller who is friendly with White Nationalist Richard Spencer, had inserted immigration hardliners into the meeting where Trump made his bigoted remarks. With the Alt-Reich in meltdown mode this week over Bannon’s excommunication, and Ann Coulter saying Trumps willingness to work on DACA was the lowest moment of his presidency, it was time for some dog whistling. Trump’s ‘Very Fine People’ are hearing him loud and clear. “He’s trying to win me back,” Ann Coulter Tweeted.
